Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462)

A 12-month temporary visa for young adults from partner countries not covered by Subclass 417, with a similar work + travel privilege.

Visa Overview

What the Subclass 462 offers

The Subclass 462 Work and Holiday visa mirrors Subclass 417 but applies to a different set of partner countries (including the USA, Argentina, Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and others). Country-specific quotas and pre-application requirements apply.

Applicants must be 18-30 years of age, hold functional English, meet the tertiary education requirement (generally 2+ years of post-secondary study), and hold sufficient funds (approximately AUD 5,000) for the initial stay.

Like the 417, the visa can be extended for a second and third year after completing qualifying specified work in eligible regional industries - unlocking a longer runway to explore Australia and gain international work experience.

Application Timeline

Your step-by-step journey

  1. 1

    Step 1 - Skills & Language Test
