Visitor Visa (Subclass 600)

A short-stay temporary visa for tourism, visiting family, or short-term business activities in Australia.

Visa Overview

What the Subclass 600 offers

The Subclass 600 Visitor visa is Australia's core short-stay visa for people travelling for tourism, visiting family and friends, or attending business meetings and conferences. It is granted across four streams: Tourist, Business Visitor, Sponsored Family, and Approved Destination Status.

Stay periods are typically 3, 6 or 12 months per entry, and the visa can be granted as a single-entry or multiple-entry authorisation depending on the applicant's travel history and stream.

Visitor visa holders cannot work in Australia and may only undertake limited short courses of study (generally up to 3 months). Genuine intention to depart Australia at the end of the visit is a core assessment criterion.
