Student Visa (Subclass 500)

A temporary visa allowing full-time study at a CRICOS-registered Australian institution, with limited work rights during study.

Visa Overview

What the Subclass 500 offers

The Subclass 500 Student visa is the single visa framework covering all sectors of Australian education - English language (ELICOS), VET, higher education, postgraduate research and school programs. Applicants must be enrolled full-time with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from a CRICOS-registered provider.

Applicants must satisfy the Genuine Student (GS) requirement, hold approved Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the full visa period, and demonstrate sufficient funds to cover tuition, travel and living expenses.

The visa is granted for the duration of the course plus a short buffer, and permits up to 48 hours of work per fortnight during study terms (unrestricted work rights during scheduled breaks).

Application Timeline

Your step-by-step journey

  1. 1

    Step 1 - Skills & Language Test
